hailey bernstein, owner and creative director

Hailey approaches each design with the full force of her creative energy and passion for flowers. Inspired by a love of fashion, art and interior design, she has developed a distinctive style—fresh, fashion forward and recognizable. Hailey studied with top European florist Paula Pryke, and has gained recognition for her creativity and cutting-edge style. 

Hailey graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles with degrees in communication and business. She later earned her certification from the Floral Design Institute.

Since starting Zest, her work has been featured in numerous local and national media, including Oregon Bride Magazine, Portland Bride & Groom, Style Me Pretty, Seattle Bride & Groom, Style Unveiled, KOIN, KPTV, Weddings Portland Style and numerous others. Hailey and the Zest team have executed large-scale floral and event décor for numerous high profile weddings, corporate and private events. Clients include Acura, NIKE, Intel, The Nines, The Sports Authority, University of Oregon, and Adidas, to name a few. 

In 2012, Zest was honored to receive the award for "Best Florist in Portland" by readers of Oregon Bride Magazine.

When Hailey’s not playing with flowers or planning an event, Hailey enjoys hosting gourmet dinner parties and spending time with her wonderful husband, Evan, and highly-energetic Portuguese Water Dog, Zoey.



caitlin mccann, senior designer / studio manager

Caitlin’s passion for design, events and décor began at a young age, and continued through her college years at Oregon State University, where she studied fashion and apparel design, and managed numerous large-scale campus events. Caitlin joined the Zest team in 2010 and quickly accelerated as a designer and wedding lead. Her keen eye for color, design, mechanics, large-scale implementation and creative vision make her an invaluable asset to Zest.


gabrielle zaffiro, senior designer

Gabrielle has more than seven years of floral design experience, including wedding and event work, retail floristry and shop management. Gabrielle worked as a floral buyer for Whole Foods Market and has served as a lead designer for several high-end floral boutiques. In addition to her floral skills, she brings a fine arts background and a knack for color and texture combining.


zoey, executive assistant

Zoey loves dancing around the studio, listening to whatever Pandora station we’ve chosen for the day and entertaining the Zest girls with her repertoire of tricks. Occasionally she decides she’s had enough and moseys into the sunroom for a nap. That lasts until she hears the front door crack, and she’s pert and ready to warmly welcome a new client, which is—hands-down—her FAVORITE activity.
